Sunday night I watched Felt Soul Media’s Running Down the Man again. Self torture if you put into context that Anchorage had a record setting snowfall for Sunday [5 inches]. The past record was set in 1944 [3 inches]. While Frank Smethurst and company were running down the man on a sunny beach, I was warming up with a cup of coffee after clearing the snow off the driveway. No small feat mind you. My driveway can comfortably park 6 vehicles and you can cram 9 when the need arises [house party eh].
The latest at Alyeska is 18″ of new snow on the bottom, 20″ at midway, and 22″ of fluffy goodness at the top. The latest accumulation is 90″ at the top [74″ since November 1st]. If you ask me a good start to reaching over 600″ this year.
From what I understand, Alyeska Ski Patrol is busy checking out the mountain for the tentative opening this weekend. That’s code for making first tracks.
